Power?

This may seem a stupid question, but does the device need to be powered?  If so is there a minimum power required?  What is the power consumption?

yeah, it is powered via standard Micro USB cable.
The devices with the CDM 7160 sensor consume ~15 ma, with short peaks up to 300
The ones with the CM1102 consume ~150ma, and peaks up to 300

in general there are problems with power supplies (i have at least one 1$ chinese one) that cannot supply even 300 ma at 5v.
Also there are some power supplies that deliver more than 5.25 v (as per usb spec) and with those - the CDM 7160 sensor has problems
