CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Henry Coley thought he had cost Virginia an upset of No. 21 Louisville. And then, the Cavaliers got another chance. "It was magical," Coley said of a fumbled punt by Louisville that Kelvin Rainey recovered at the Louisville 25. Four plays later, Ian Fryes 42-yard field goal lifted the Cavaliers to a 23-21 victory over the Cardinals. Virginia (2-1, 1-0) ended an 11-game Atlantic Coast Conference losing streak and a 10-game skid against FBS-level competition. The Cardinals (2-1, 1-1) had won seven straight road games. "This is one of the most emotional games Ive ever had," said Coley, a senior linebacker. "Im in the locker room crying after the game. ... Ive never cried over a football game. It was emotional because it was something big lifted off my shoulders." Twice in the fourth quarter, penalties against Coley kept Louisville drives alive, and each finished with a touchdown, helping them erase a 20-7 deficit. The second TD came with 6:59 to play, and Virginia got one first down on the ensuing possession, and then punted. As James Quick settled under it for the Cardinals, a teammate bumped him and the ball came loose. "Its about time it happens to somebody else," Virginia coach Mike London said. Louisville coach Bobby Petrino said the fumbled punt didnt cost his team the game. "When you lose a game like this, we will watch the video and there will be 15 plays, individually, that if we would have made that play, we had a chance to win the game," Petrino said. "We just didnt make enough plays to win the game." Before the fourth quarter, the Cavaliers controlled the game. Greyson Lambert threw for a touchdown and ran for another score, and Frye had two earlier field goals before Louisville put starting quarterback Will Gardner back in the game. Gardner, lifted in favour of more mobile freshman Reggie Bonnafon, led consecutive touchdown drives. He hit Keith Towbridge for 28 yards on one third down play, and got help from a pass interference call on Coley to convert a third-and-8 play. Dominique Brown ran it in from the 6 three plays later to make it 20-14. After a three-and-out for Virginia, the Cardinals drove again with a huge assist from the Cavaliers. On third-and-goal from the 9, Gardner had Coley and defensive end Eli Harold converging on him when he threw the ball right into the arms of linebacker Max Valles for an interception. But Coley and Harold both gave Gardner a shove after he got rid of the ball, and Coley was called for roughing the passer. Gardner then found James Quick for a 4-yard TD pass on the next play for a 21-20 lead, quieting the crowd at Scott Stadium until the punt, the scrum and the emergence of Rainey with the ball, already in Fryes field-goal range. "Were figuring out how to win again," Coley said. It was Virginias first victory against a ranked team since a 14-13 win at Florida State on Nov. 19, 2011. Lambert played most of the way for Virginia, hitting Miles Gooch for a 15-yard touchdown to tie it at 7, and scoring on a 10-yard run to give the Cavaliers a 17-7 lead in the third quarter. Fryes 47-yard field goal made it 20-7, but then Louisville came back. Gardners first interception of the season set Virginia up with a short field in the first quarter. Anthony Harris made the pick, giving the Cavaliers the ball at the 15. Three plays later, Lambert hit Gooch for the score. It gave the Cavaliers 38 points after turnovers this year; last year, they had 13. The Cardinals took the opening kickoff and drove right down the field. Gardner had completion of 11 yards to James Quick, 20 yards to Eli Rogers and 9 yards to Kai De La Cruz. The latter set up a fourth-and-1 from the Virginia 9, and Gardner hit Charles Standberry for the touchdown off a play-action fake. Sam Dekker Red Jersey . And that goes for Sterlings wife, Shelly, who has said shed like to keep her stake in the team even if her husband is ousted. The NBAs constitution, which Donald Sterling signed as controlling owner of the Clippers, gives its board of governors broad latitude in league decisions including who owns the teams. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver is pushing for a swift vote against Sterling, which requires a minimum of three-fourths of the other 29 controlling owners to agree. Silver also has imposed a lifetime ban on Sterling and a $2.5 million fine. The ban does not apply to Shelly Sterling. SI.com and ESPN.com, citing unidentified sources, reported Thursday that Sterlings lawyer, antitrust litigator Maxwell Blecher, wrote a letter to Rick Buchanan, the NBAs executive vice-president and general counsel, threatening to sue the league and saying Sterling will not pay the $2.5 million fine. "Sterlings own signature will come back to haunt him," said Michael McCann, founding director of the Sports and Entertainment Law Institute at the University of New Hampshire. "You agree to certain basic understandings. Thats what makes a sports league different from other businesses." The key to the NBAs authority, attorneys say, is Article 13(d) of the leagues constitution. That section says that, whether Sterling intended to or not, an owner cannot "fail or refuse to fulfil" contractual obligations to the NBA "in such a way to affect the Association or its members adversely." Theres plenty of evidence Sterlings comments, revealed in a recorded conversation with a female companion, affected the league adversely. They provoked threats of a player boycott, led sponsors to withdraw support and created a racially charged image problem in the midst of the NBA playoffs that even President Barack Obama remarked upon. If Article 13(d) was violated, the legal experts say the board of governors has solid grounds to force Sterling to sell the team along with any other owners, in this case his wife. As long as the NBA meticulously follows its own constitution and rules regarding the Clippers sale, it will be difficult for Sterling to find a legal theory that would stand up in court, said Daniel Lazaroff, director of the Sports Law Institute at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles.dddddddddddd "This is not an antitrust issue. This is not a First Amendment issue," Lazaroff said. "Its a question limited to the interpretation of the NBA constitution and bylaws, and whether those terms are met." Another question involves California family law. Its a community property state, meaning spouses jointly own property they acquired while married. The Sterlings were already married when he bought the Clippers in 1981. Although a potential divorce could complicate the Clippers sale, McCann said the couples joint ownership actually works to the NBAs favour because — legally speaking — they are a single entity. So if the NBA forced Donald Sterling to sell, even under a divorce scenario, Shelly Sterling would have to sell, too. They have been married since 1955. "The NBA is well positioned to ultimately prevail," McCann said. For his part, Donald Sterling has repeatedly said he does not want to sell the Clippers. In his recent interview with CNNs Anderson Cooper, he cast doubt on going to court if the NBA governors ultimately do vote to force him out. "People want me to hire a wall of lawyers and them to have to hire a wall of lawyers and go to war," Sterling said on CNN. "I dont think thats the answer." Sterlings longtime attorney, Robert Platt, declined to comment when contacted Wednesday. Shelly Sterlings attorney, Pierce ODonnell, did not respond to email requests for comment from The Associated Press. But he has previously said she wants to remain a passive owner of the Clippers even if her husband is no longer involved. For now, the NBA has installed former Time Warner and Citigroup chairman Dick Parsons to oversee the teams business operations. Parsons said this week that a prolonged legal battle "is in no ones interest." "I would hope we could avoid that," he said. If he is forced out, Sterling still stands to reap a huge financial windfall in a Clippers sale. He bought the team for $12.5 million in 1981, and Forbes magazine recently placed its 2014 value at $575 million, or No. 13 in the NBA. Of course, there would also be a sizable capital gains tax bill for that. _____ Follow Curt Anderson on Twitter: http://twitter.com/Miamicurt Cheap NFL Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale NFL Jerseys Jerseys From China Wholesale NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap Jerseys ' ' '
