felt amazing for me. It must have felt - zgr123 - 07-11-2017

Most days, youd win money shooting thee-under par on nine holes of alternate shot. Thats what the Double Ds - Graham DeLaet and Jason Day - did in foursomes play at the Presidents Cup on Friday. But instead of pocketing any winnings, they were staring at a scoreboard that showed them three down to Phil Mickelson and Keegan Bradley. All the Americans did was fire a 30 that included a stretch where they went five under over a four-hole stretch from the fifth to the eighth. "We were three under through nine and we were three down," said DeLaet, shaking his head in disbelief. "Theres not much more that you can do. Its unfortunate but we still have two more days." The Canadian-Australian partnership once again jumped out to a quick lead when Day rolled in a birdie on the first hole. The teams split the next hole with birdies and only a silky sand shot that led to a par saved the U.S. team from going down two. On the par-3 fourth, the Internationals seemed ready to grab another point but after a sloppy bunker shot from Mickelson, Bradley made a clutch putt for par for a half. "I did not hit a very good bunker shot," admitted Mickelson. "I hit it eight feet by the hole and to see Keegan make that putt, that was a big momentum boost for us. "We would have been 2-down if it doesnt go in and I thought instead that that momentum boost really propelled us to the next stretch that we started on five." The Americans caught fire after that and for DeLaet and Day, it was a case of just trying not to get steam-rolled. "Its difficult," said DeLaet of trying to keep up with Mickelson and Bradley, "We just tried to keep giving ourselves chances but unfortunately we just werent hitting the shots. They played great. They played better than us today and deserved to win." The Bradley-Mickelson partnership has been a good one; the duo teamed up at last years Ryder Cup to win three matches although they lost their opener on here on Thursday. "I think that when Phil and I get rolling in this alternate shot, we complement each other so well," said Bradley. "I think we really enjoy kind of showing off in front of each other." The International duo fell six down after the 12th, but managed to hang on for a few more holes before being closed out 4&3. "I think we had a good game plan," said DeLaet of the alternate shot format he and Day formulated. "We clicked well together, the two of us, but unfortunately we just didnt play our best." Of the two, however, it was Day who struggled. After hitting every fairway in the first round, he missed three of the eight on Friday and struggled to match DeLaet for shot value. Once again, rain halted play for more than two and a half hours, leaving a soggy and saturated Muirfield Village Golf Course. Players utilized lift, clean and place for the post-rain portion of play. The course wasnt the only thing soggy after the rain. Some of the fans that remained obviously passed their time in the beer tent and there were a few incidents of unruly behaviour. Angel Cabrera was forced to back off a putt three times when fans yelled as he was about to putt. The Argentine rolled the ball into the cup and then fist-pumped in the general direction of the noise. Only two of the six matches finished before play was called due to darkness. Ernie Els and Brendan De Jonge took a 4&3 decision over Bill Haas and Hunter Mahan to equal the days tally and each side led in two of the remaining four matches. The most pivotal of the matches appears to be the one between Angel Cabrera and Marc Leishman, who hold a slim 1 up lead over Webb Simpson and Brandt Snedeker. Play will resume at 7:35 Saturday followed by five four-ball matches and then another five foursome matches in the afternoon. Teez Tabor Youth Jersey . No sweat for these confident Los Angeles Dodgers. Adrian Gonzalez scored the go-ahead run on Yasiel Puigs sacrifice fly that capped a three-run sixth inning, helping the Dodgers beat the New York Mets 4-2 on Monday night for their sixth straight victory. The deficit was small compared to Friday, when the Dodgers rallied from six runs down to beat Tampa Bay on a walkoff. "Its a special group. Hopefully, special things can happen," said Nick Punto, who homered in the seventh. "We have a lot of talent on this team and things are clicking." The Dodgers improved to 38-8 since June 22, the franchises best 46-game stretch in the modern era that began in 1900. The 1899 Brooklyn Superbas had 38 wins in several 46-game stretches between April and June of that year. Overall, its the best 46-game run for a major league team since the 2001 Oakland Athletics went 38-8 between Aug. 2 and Sept. 27. "The confidence is really high," Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said. "Our pitching has been great." Gonzalez went 3 for 4 and drove in a run for the seventh straight game, the longest RBI streak since Adrian Beltres eight-game run from July 17-24, 2004. Ricky Nolasco (9-9) extended his winning streak to three. The right-hander allowed two runs and seven hits in 6 1/3 innings. He struck out two and walked two, retiring 11 consecutive batters during one stretch. "I made a lot of good pitches," he said. "A lot of their hits were well-placed." Mets catcher John Buck played with Nolasco in Miami. "He never gives up and never gives in to hitters," he said. "He executes pitches when he needs to, and keeps the team in the ballgame, and thats the thing I remember from him when I was there." Kenley Jansen got the final four outs to earn his 18th save in 21 chances. He has retired 32 of the last 33 batters he has faced with 18 strikeouts since July 23. Jenrry Mejia (1-2) gave up three runs — two earned — and six hits in six innings as the Mets two-game winning streak ended. The right-hander struck out four and walked none. He retired his first eight batters. New York had won five of six. Ahead 2-0, Mejia alllowed three straight singles to open the sixth, capped by Gonzalezs RBI single over the head of leaping shortstop Omar Quintanilla.dddddddddddd "We actually tried to go down and away to him, and I think it just rode up and in a little bit on him and missed the spot," Buck said. "It was one of those things where he just jammed him in the right spot." Center fielder Juan Lagares scooped up the ball and fired it to third, but it went off the glove of Wilmer Flores and into the Dodgers dugout as Gonzalez took third. That allowed Mark Ellis to score from first behind Carl Crawford, tying the game 2-2. Puig followed with a sacrifice fly to left field that scored Gonzalez, making it 3-2. Punto homered for just the second time this season, extending the Dodgers lead to 4-2 in the seventh. Danny DeVito came on the field after the game wearing Puntos No. 7 jersey. "I didnt get it back, either," said Punto, who met the actor for the first time. "Ive never seen someone so excited. He said, It felt amazing for me. It must have felt good for you." New York had the tying runs on first and second in the eighth with two outs. Jansen came in and retired pinch-hitter Justin Turner on a called third strike. The Dodgers got out of a jam in the seventh, when the Mets had runners on first and second with two outs. Daniel Murphy lined out to right, and Puig caught the ball over his shoulder while running toward the wall. "Theyve been amazing," Nolasco said about the bullpen. "To get out of a bases-loaded jam in the seventh was great." The Mets led 2-0 in the second on RBI singles by Buck and Quintanilla after Nolasco gave up four consecutive singles to open the inning. Quintanillas 17 RBI set a single-season career high. Notes: Jansen had his second four-out save of the season, with the other coming at Colorado on July 3. ...
