External power plug not working - wokkelp - 02-15-2017 Hi, The device powers on with a USB cable to my computer. However, when I connect the monitor to a wall outlet using either the BX-502000 (5V, 2A) or a Samsung Travel adapter (5V, 1A) it doesn't even power on (No leds, no values being updated). Whats the deal? RE: External power plug not working - admin - 02-16-2017 hmmm that's weird... do you have some voltage meter, to measure the voltage between 5v and GND strange thing is that you get it from two different chargers and you are using one and the same usb cable for all tests, right ? RE: External power plug not working - wokkelp - 02-16-2017 (02-16-2017, 03:10 AM)admin Wrote: hmmm that's weird... do you have some voltage meter, to measure the voltage between 5v and GND The charger that came with the RPi2 (5V, 2A) Doesn't have a detachable USB cable. The Samsung Travel adapter (5V, 1A) did come with a separate usb cable. I tried the latter with the usb cable it came with and a random I had laying around which worked on the usb port of my computer (and Rpi3). Oh, I also tried different wall outlets. The device doesn't seem to boot up. RE: External power plug not working - admin - 02-16-2017 can you try something else - check if the button can be pressed, it should go at least half a milimeter or more down, and you should feel at the end clicking if you aren't able to press it at all, then try to unscrew a bit the bolts it may be that there is something that is pressing the button and for some reason it works when you connect it via the tool but fails when plugged in w/o pc the function of the button is unclear yet, it can be configured to send some commands to the firmware or to trigger messages over http/mqtt/rf but since it connects to one pin of the microcontroller that is used for flashing, if it is constantly pressed, there could be some issue if you can press it, then there may be some other problem, but i will tell you what to try afterwards RE: External power plug not working - wokkelp - 02-16-2017 I can press the button and there are no anomalies. Another strange thing is that after a few hours it stops broadcasting, when I check the device the led is off. I have to recycle the power to get it back online. RE: External power plug not working - admin - 02-17-2017 Can you try to enable debug via the config tool (in settings) and then connect it to the external power supply the LED should then blink in different ways like described here http://forum.vair-monitor.com/showthread.php?tid=23&pid=380#pid380 also - when it stops broadcasting, can you send me the logs from the last iteration from the config tool in general the led turns off after 5 mins of operation RE: External power plug not working - wokkelp - 02-17-2017 Since I couldn't switch my lights anymore because of the RF module constantly transmitting because of the broken cable I disconnected it from the board. Not only can I switch my lights on and off again but it has been up and running for a solid 12 hours now. *EDIT: I tried powering the device with a power bank I have laying around (5V 1A) and it works! Maybe all the problems are related with the faulty wires going to the RF Module.... |
